João yarn is a double-knit single ply wool spun from the wool of Portuguese Merino sheep.

This native breed is found in the south of Portugal, mainly in the Alentejo. The Portuguese Merino Breeders Association (ANCORME) verifies the origin and quality of the fleece used to produce this yarn.

Each skein weighs 50g and has 136 metres of wool. The recommended needle size is 4mm with a gauge of 21 stitches x 31 rows over a 10 x 10cm square.
