The Miller Trouser, a Paper Theory pattern
The Miller Trouser is a relaxed, easy-to-wear trouser with an elasticated or tie waist. They are designed to sit high on the natural waist above your belly button, with a silhouette that is full around the hip with a pleat at the front leg for extra fullness. They have deep side pockets and a back waist dart for extra shaping. The leg tapers inwards toward the ankle at the hem,, creating a streamlined, slightly carrot-shaped silhouette. The finished length is designed to hit just at the ankle. The pattern is available in UK sizes 6-28.
The pattern is drafted by the wonderful Tara Viggo, and you can read more about her here.
It’s suitable for woven, medium- to heavyweight fabrics like cotton and linen, but it would also suit some heavier fabrics such as cotton drill and canvas or a lightweight denim. Lighter fabrics with a bit of drape, such as wool crepe, viscose twill or double gauze, could work well, too - as could jersey or sweatshirting fabric.
