Tewkesbury Corozo buttons - 12mm

NZ$0.80

These four-hole buttons from Courtney & Co in the UK are made from corozo, which is derived from the nut of the tagua palm. This palm tree grows in the equatorial rainforests of Central America, where the tagua nut is used to produce ‘vegetable ivory.’

These are in the Tewkesbury 2245 pattern with a four holes and a satin finish. Their size (11.6mm) makes them particularly great for shirts.

Curious about how tagua becomes buttons? This video is a great introduction to the mighty tagua and role it plays in the ongoing fight against deforestation.
