Daruma

We are proud to stock Genmou and Wool Mohair yarn from Daruma, a thread and yarn manufacturer in Japan with a history stretching back to 1901. Genmou is a DK weight three-ply yarn that's made by twisting strands of merino around a single ply of untwisted, carded wool. We are delighted to now stock their Sashiko thread and needles for Sashiko stitching.

Genmou, featured here, is a yarn that is lofty and light - a great choice for garments, shawls and accessories. Curious? Have a look through Ravelry or Instagram to see what other clever knitters have done with it, or consider some of the patterns built with it in mind, such as the Jujisei Cardigan or the Sintra Cardigan.

Wool Mohair is a worsted weight yarn that can be used for all kinds of garments, from slipovers to cardigans, or for beautiful scarves or accessories. It’s a blend of merino (44 percent) and goat mohair (56 percent).

Both of these yarns also feature prominently in amirisu pattern books done in cooperation with Daruma — Epistemology Daruma Collection 2020 and Sublation Daruma Collection 2021.
