Cohana sewing needle sets
Meboso needles produced by Cohana have a history that dates back more than 430 years and have been beloved by seamstresses in Kanazawa, Japan. The most unique characteristic of these needles is their ability to pierce with little contact with the fabric, due to their vertically polished surface. You’ll find they slide smoothly slide through fabric.
The needle was an important work tool for these seamstresses, and it is said that they cherished their needles by enveloping them in hand-sewn bags or placing them in a container which hung from their necks so that they wouldn’t get lost. Their story inspired Cohana to give to extra consideration into how they would be packaged.
Cohana has chosen to house these needles in containers created by Aichi Shikan Seizosho, a company that has produced many paper tube spools. Tassels were then attached, made from Kanagawa’s silk and gold threads. There are two types: for thin to normal fabric; and for thick fabric. (Packs edged with gold are for light to medium fabrics; silver edged packages are for heavier fabrics.)
