We can promise we won't stock many books, so when you see something here it must be good. Case in point is the new cookbook from Wellington favourite Nikau Cafe. If Newtown House had a local, it'd be this. Only it's not quite walking distance, which is probably for the best as then you might find us parked up at the counter far too often. The book is beautiful and full of recipes you'd hope Nikau chef Kelda Hains would have shared - including Kedgeree, Sage Fried Eggs, many variants on fried haloumi (including the one with grilled asparagus, mint, walnut and preserved lemon salsa), not to mention a host of desserts that show her love of comforting foods, fruit and gentle sweetness. A winner from entree to dessert.
